Feature Recognition and Machine Tool Selection

One of Infoneer's side projects was to take a CAD project of some object and automate the process of discovering the features of the object and determine which machine tool(s) are needed to produce the object. This was a proof-of-concept project that took an AutoCAD Inventor file and ran it through a custom application to discover its features. This output of this application was an XML file with the object's features. The XML file was then uploaded to a website, developed with Groovy on Grails, to determine the machine tool(s) needed.
